Trucks
Trucks or lorries, whatever name you call them, whether you love them as I do, or loate them, have been in use for over a century. They provide an invaluable service to us by transporting the goods that we need, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
There are several claims to what the oldest truck is. One claim is that the first truck built was by Mercedes Benz in 1896, which looked like a horse drawn cart without the drawbar; however, others say it was the Federal Truck built by the Federal Truck Company in 1909.
Truck manufacturers of the world include Atkinson, Mack, Kenworth, Bedford, British Leyland, Peterbilt, Commer, Foden, Ford, Scammell and Thornycroft to name but a few.
Worldwide, there are well over 100 companies manufacturing trucks. I will be covering many of these manufacturers in my pubications, so please drop by in the future to read about the history of the companies who have brought us these creations.
